Malcolm X (Shaheed) said: “The future belongs to those who prepare for it today.” The Risala Foundation is a forward-looking institution that will introduce thought-leadership and true scholarship to the Islamic community, by providing a forum for discussions and the sharing of ideas.

Today, Muslims claim to be walking towards Makkah but they lack a compass. What is the Islamic point-of-view on the following:

• Capital Punishment
• Child Abuse
• Equality for Women
• Prison System
• Financial Innovation and Capitalism
• Cloning
• Euthanasia
• Animal Testing
• Global Warming

There may not be one right answer to these questions but we will provide the differing yet wise perspectives in our tradition that address these issues and aim to instill confidence among Muslims. If we do not take up these issues and begin informing and educating ourselves, a new generation of Muslims may come of age without fully understanding the beauty, diversity and depth of their faith.

In addition, Muslims have build institutions of higher learning everywhere they have gone, from India to Indonesia, from Andalusia to Amsterdam. We owe it to future generations to preserve our legacy in the United States.
